BoT proposes cash transaction scrutiny for property buyers
The Bank of Thailand has opened a public hearing on new rules requiring banks to scrutinize cash transactions of 5 million baht or more, particularly for high-value property purchases. Separately, new daily transfer limits for youths (3,000-10,000 baht based on age) will be phased in by September and October 2026. No immediate action is required from expats, as the rules are still under consultation.
