Thailand removes Ebola zones for DRC, Uganda

17h ago

Thailand's Ministry of Public Health announced in the Royal Gazette (Sept 18, 2026) the cancellation of a previous order and re-issued a list of foreign territories considered dangerous contagious disease zones for Ebola (EVD), adding the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. However, since the WHO declared Uganda Ebola-free on Aug 27, 2026, and no new cases were found after the follow-up period, the practical effect is limited. Expats traveling from these countries should check current entry-screening requirements, but the risk is ended.
