Finance Ministry proposes 1,000 baht departure tax
Thailand's Finance Ministry is pushing a 1,000 baht departure tax for both Thai nationals and foreigners, with public consultation open until 29 October. Airlines and tourism operators warn the fee could reduce international flights and cost the industry up to 150 billion baht annually in lost revenue. The tax is not yet implemented, and a separate 450 baht tourist entry fee is also under consideration.
