Incoming air passengers face new 450 baht tourist levy from late 2026
Thailand's long-delayed tourist tax for air arrivals has been raised to 450 baht and is expected to start in late 2026 or early 2027. Expats returning by air should be aware of this additional cost once it takes effect.
Cabinet approves VAT cut extension to Sept 2027
The cabinet has approved a one-year extension of the 7% VAT rate (including local tax) from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027, to ease living costs and support consumer spending. The rate applies to all sales of goods, services, and imports.
