2026 Thailand living costs: budgets, rail fares shift
A single expat can live comfortably in Thailand on roughly 33,500–77,000 baht ($1,015–$2,330) per month, with rent and Western food as the biggest variables. Notably, the promised 20-baht flat rail fare was scrapped in favor of a unified 17–45 baht per trip structure targeting 2027, and new MRT Blue Line distance-based fares of 17–44 baht took effect on 3 July 2026.
