Chao Phraya Dam raises discharge; riverside provinces urged to prepare evacuation
The Chao Phraya Dam has increased its release to 2,300 cubic metres per second to handle northern runoff, with authorities urging residents along the river in Ayutthaya, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani to move belongings to higher ground and be ready to evacuate. Water near Nakhon Sawan is expected to reach the dam within a day and Ayutthaya on 3 October; more rain is forecast for 4–6 October. The dam release may rise to 2,500 cubic metres per second if conditions allow.
A live hazard or material disruption is in effect.
