Heavy drone rule: operator training deadline extended to March 2027
Thailand's Ministry of Transport has amended the permit rules for drones over 25 kg, extending the transitional training period until 1 March 2027. Operators who completed training with a manufacturer or approved organisation between 1 September 2024 and that new date will have their qualifications recognised for registration purposes.
New drone rules extended for medium-risk flights in Thailand
Thailand's Civil Aviation Authority updated rules for drones under 25 kg in the 'Specific Category' (medium-risk operations). Existing drone registrants can now apply for a permit to fly outside standard conditions using simplified proof of competency, but those without prior training must complete an approved course within two years or lose their permit.
