Residential electricity bills to drop from September 1
Thailand's Energy Regulatory Commission approved a tariff revision removing street-lighting costs from household bills, reducing the average rate from 3.95 to 3.86 baht per unit. The new rates, effective for bills from September to December, also cap the first 200 units at no more than 3 baht/unit and extend residential rates to some unregistered home occupants.
Thailand electricity bills to rise sharply from September
The Energy Regulatory Commission plans to raise the fuel tariff nearly fivefold to 0.94 baht per kWh, pushing the average power tariff to between 4.20 and 4.73 baht per unit from September through December 2026. Public consultation runs until July 20; final rates are set by September.
